A strong network of mentors offers NYL scholars guidance and support beyond their education, and into their careers. Through meetings, mentorship, and shared expertise, networking creates invaluable opportunities for scholars to learn from successful professionals in their industries, ultimately propelling their personal and professional growth to new heights.

NYL supports Youth Entrepreneurs through 3 different types of mentors:

  • Corporate Mentors – Corporate mentors help scholars with industry specific projects.
  • Science Mentors – Science mentors from National Laboratories help scholars with research specific to their discipline.
  • Communal mentors help guide scholars along their educational, cultural, and career pathways.

Students gain access to current unclassified research and development projects and existing technologies available for licensing kept in our National Laboratories, ready for transfer to U.S. Corporations.

The exposure provided by NYL enables these projects and technologies to reach businesses that may not have otherwise pursued them, ultimately leading to a higher rate of successful transfers to the commercial sectors.

National Youth Laboratory

The National Youth Laboratory offers the opportunity to work remotely on cutting-edge research with other passionate students and experts, contributing to science and society. Teams collaborate virtually to commercialize National Lab technologies, allowing you to gain skills and experience while advancing science from home.
